COURSE AIMS
The principal aim of the Dip EMS (Paramedic) course is to provide the level of training and education necessary for modern emergency medical care providers to become confident and effective practitioners in the pre hospital environment.
This course aims to focus on the application of a sound theoretical base to develop the student’s clinical decision making abilities and to develop sound techniques of patient assessment and clinical care. The course also serves as a foundation for further professional study within the service.
ENTRY CRITERIA
Access to the Diploma in EMS is available only by direct application to the HSE in response to advertisements online. These notices will appear at www.careersinhealthcare.ie and at www.publicjobs.ie. It is recommended to regularly check these sites for updates.
Applicants must be in possession of a minimum of five passes in the Leaving Certificate examination (including one mathematics plus one science subject ), or academic equivalent.
Applicants must hold a full unendorsed ClassC1 and full unendorsed class D1driving licence at the time of the selection test (note UK 101 Restriction & NI 79 is not acceptable).
Applicants must successfully complete the HSE Verbal Evaluation & Analytical Reasoning test.
